The Mapping/GIS committee has been compiling information regarding bedrock and surficial geology in digital format for the Northeast. Here are some of the resources presently available to archaeologists.

P.E.I.
Only surficial geology is probably needed for geoarchaeological research. Only one bedrock formation, Pennsylvanian-Permian sandstone and conglomerate underlies the island. Nothing available yet in digital format.

New York
The New York State Geological Survey (NYSGS) has the bedrock and surface geology (1:250,000) for the entire state available in ArcInfo .e00 format. This can be downloaded free of cost via FTP at http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/gis.html
