 		 NELD Workgroup Members conduct the majority of their work via electronic media. We invite you to participate by writing one or more committee chairs for information. Occasionally, formal "real space" meeting are scheduled at predetermined locations in the Northeast. Meetings may occur in conjunction with other organizations, such as the Northeastern Anthropological Association (NEAA). Upcoming Meetings: 

Our next working meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 1998, 8:00 
am to noon. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the 33rd Annual 
Meeting of the Northeastern Section of the Geological Society of America 
Annual Meeting (March 19-21, 1998) in Portland, Maine, USA. 

For your information, the Northeast Section of the GSA's will feature at 
least two symposia of interest to geoarchaeologists on Friday March 20: 

T3  Geoarchaeology: 
        Using geological techniques to model past environments. 
T10 Archaeological Stone Artifacts: 
        Contributions to sources, petrology, and distribution. 

NELD representatives will make some introductory remarks about the project 
during the T10 session, and then on Saturday we will meet as a group to 
address specific issues (such as access security, nomenclature, graphics & 
mapping, and web & database design) as well as general policy and long 
term goals such as funding. 

We invite new participants and input into our project. 

If you think you might be coming to Maine, please let us know so we can 
arrange for sufficient work space and handouts!
